lol can u ?? I want to know how big or small will the puppies get and what color those puppies will become? The male is tricolor (black, white, brown), he's a teacup and he weighs 4 pounds. On the other hand, my female is a regular sized and she's just white and weighs 10 pounds.
Can I breed a teacup shih tzu (male) and a female regular sized shih tzu?
There are too many risks. Anything and everything can go wrong if you dont know what you are doing. And you dont know. "Teacup" is just another name for a runt. Good breeders NEVER breed a runt because runts are unhealthy for the standard. I think it would be in the best interest of the animals if they were both sterilized, immediately.
Reply:Yes you can.
BUT......
the one you call a teacup is actually the runt of the litter, or the product of two runts being bred together. Very poor quality dog. The lowest quality of the whole litter. Will be the sickest with poor health %26amp; most of the time physical faults as well.
If you don't have the Pedigree on either one of the dogs, your guess is as good as any others, when it comes to color, size, temperament, physical faults, mental problems or anything else. If you don't know what makes up your dog then there is no way to predict the out come unless you consider only the dominate genetics. But not know what the recessive genes are you wont know if both do or not %26amp; you will only compound the fault. Making matters worse.
If you paid less than a couple of thousands of dollars for the larger one, it, too, is just pet quality %26amp; not a quality pure breed.
I suggest that you get both dogs fixed %26amp; consider breeding only when you can afford to get something worthy of breeding.
Reply:%26lt;sigh%26gt;...please so some research before you just start putting two dogs together.....there is so much more to know than what color or how big. You won't be able to really know what colors or sizes they will be..only mother nature knows. That is why knowing a little about genetics is almost necessary when breeding dogs. Do research on your breed, find out what problems they can have and do the right thing and only breed if they are good representations of the breed and are cleared of all genetic conditions and diseases common in the breed.
Reply:DITTO TO ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:No,you shouldn't do it.
Reply:spay and neuter and enjoy what you have.....
Reply:There's no such thing as a teacup breed. It's just the runt of the litter that the (unethical) breeder wanted to sell for more money.
Reply:you should get the dogs fixed! you should not breed these dogs, and if you do you are contributing to the horrible problem of dog overpopulation. only the most irresponsible hate deserving people breed dogs without the proper knowledge and state certification. why don't you take a look at this:

and then decide what to do.
Reply:No, because there is no such thing as a teacup Shih Tzu, or teacup anything.
Reply:You don't have a damn clue about breeding. DON'T DO IT for God's sake.
You don't even know that there is no such thing as "teacup". You got your dogs from a backyard breeder and that 's what you will be if you bred your pet quality dogs.
The only reason to bred is for the betterment of the breed and that is NOT what you are doing. Your doing it for money.
Get your dogs fixed. There are enough byb's and enough dogs in the world. GEEZ!
Reply:It would only matter if the female was the teacup because the puppies might be too big for her to have and it would kill her. Some may be teacup size or regular most likely they'll be both. all of them should have some of the colors the parents do.
Hope it helps!!
Reply:Yes, but unless both parents are AKC registered, have been successfully shown, and have several Champions on each side of their pedigrees, you are going to have a hard time getting rid of them.
Since there are so many millions of dogs killed every year in shelters, lots of them Shih Tzus, maybe you would rather not be a back yard breeder.
Reply:To answer your question....yes, you can almost breed any kind of dog. I once seen a Dachshund/Pit Bull mix...LOL
