My daughter wants to make it for a school project. She has a Hmong friend and wants to learn more on their food. She thinks it is a beverage.
I am interested in a recipe for Hmong tricolor (sp?).?
I couldn't find a recipe, but did read that it is a beverage made with tapioca, coconut milk, caramelized sugar and ice.
Reply:Tricolor takes a long time to make it. My mom can only make it, but I cannot (which is sad because it's so good). Report It
Reply:An easier way to make thr tri-color is by using tapioca starch that can be purchased at a local asian grocery store. The quantity is less and not as "clean-looking" but it works for me as most ppl does not know how to make it from scratch. Report It
Reply:1) Use boiling hot water, mix w/ the tapioca starch to get a dough-like consistency. (if the dough is too watery, like it runs through your fingers, it means your water is not hot enough) You will need food coloring too to get the color you want. Mix it in. Report It
Reply:2) Knead the dough into a flat sheet %26amp; cut them into small tiny strips. (1-2 inches long but very thin)
3) Drop the strips in boiling hot water. Make sure u stir it constantly to prevent sticking to the pot. To know it's ready, pull one strip out %26amp; run through cold water, should be clear colored. Report It
Reply:When ready, run them through cold water and let it sit in cold water until you are ready to mix them with the other ingredients.
Tapioca pearls can be purchased and cooked in boiling water. Drained and stored in cold water. Report It

Waterchest nuts can be chopped into small pieces %26amp; coated w/ tapioca starch %26amp;boiled the same way. Rinse %26amp; keep in cold water.
